Another job is to assist the Field Safety group flag roads. We got to go out to Cape Evans where Scott’s Terra Nova Hut is located. This is the one they were supposed to return to after the trip to the South Pole. They never made it. The hut is still full of artifacts including reindeer hide sleeping bags, canned foods, beakers, frozen penguin.
I met two folk working at the Kiwi station who are in charge of preserving and cataloging all the items in the hut.
I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, the visit to the hut or getting to drive a skidoo to it.
